A Dry river bed instead of a traditional sand pit. Large and smaller river rock lining a sand river with tree stumps, ferns and toys. This is a home daycare that has a lot of natural play elements in their backyard play environment.
Max would probably eat the dinosaurs! Old multi-tiered wire fruit & vegetable basket used to store animals near the outdoor sandpit (could also work to store natural elements like rocks, sticks & pinecones)
Leave plastic animals in a bin outside (near the garden, next to the sandbox, next to a patch of trees, etc) -- when children go outside to play, they them and let their imagination.forward to playing outside
