Name Map-This is a great getting to know you activity. The teacher creates one and shares it with the class. The teacher then allows the students to create their own "name map". The middle symbol represents them and then they have other symbols branching off of the center symbol that represent who they are and their interests. It also goes well after reading Chrysanthemum.
Team - Classbuilding Ideas + People Hunt : Students search for classmates who have matching characteristics and record their answers on this form. An excellent activity for helping students get to know the others in the classroom. And this activity can develop student's speaking ability. A good little Icebreaker during the First Week of School.
This would be a very fun activity the first week of school! Teacher says a statement (ex. Switch sides if you like hot dogs more than pizza.) and the students either stay or move. The kids could also talk about why they did/didn't move. Fun back to school ice breaker!
Break the ice in a modern format with this fantastic get to know you sharing activity. Good for all ages. This is a simple, fun and engaging way to get students talking about themselves while introducing the common core writing fundamentals of using evidence to support an answer.
