The BEST ever STEM task! Build a catapult. First, kids experiment with many different angles of the catapult. This involves measuring and estimating. Then they build the best version of a catapult by using their collected data. Can they create a catapult that will send the projectile the farthest distance?
Do you know the story of the Brooklyn Bridge? This fun book for kids tells the tale featuring PT Barnum, a circus and 21 elephants. It also inspired this week's Engineering Science for Kids challenge - build a bridge to hold 21 elephants! A great STEM / STEAM activity for preschoolers and elementary aged students
After years of STEM activities, including towers, bridges, race cars, and rockets, one my favorites is the classic catapult challenge! I believe it incorporates all aspects of a quality STEM activity: easy math connection, engineering design process, student-driven learning, and hands-on fun! Read on to see my ideas to incorporate into your classroom or to download our TpT Catapult STEM Challenge!
