Most people don't know that it is a Scottish poem written in 1788 by Robert Burns and later set to the music of a folk song. I've put in the English translation. This version of the song is by Dougie MacLean and is one of my favorite interpretations. **************...

Malcolm CHEAPE Herring Type: Mixed Media set of three hearings facing alternating direction resting on crumpled paper . what I find so interesting and unique about this piece is the background . Although cheap works mainly in acrylics and inks he is very clever in the use of collage. He uses Scottish poems, financial records, engineering drawings, hydrological charts, and mythological iconography or on this case recipes for a herring dish which I think makes his pieces so original.
