Spaten Oktoberfest is a solid representation of a Marzen/Oktoberfest. I had this on tap and am reviewing only from memory. I was not blow away but the Oktoberfest is solid and drinkable with nice bready malts, herbal notes and a little of that pleasant skunk. This is perfectly refreshing and would make a nice session beer. I would have again but not before I tried something new.

Are Session Ales a Growing Craft Beer Trend? by Jason Poulos | I’m a craft beer enthusiast, home brewer and at one time the beer buyer at Richmond’s local food market. I’ve been enjoying great beer for the last 10 years and I’ve seen a market that was once reserved for a handful of elitists evolve to a state where just about every bar, restaurant and dicey corner store has some sort of craft beer available. I’m constantly trying new beers and I’m always interested in what new style…

Deschutes Black Butte American Porter. I have no idea what an American Porter is supposed to be. Truth is, I still don't know the difference between a Stout and a Porter, I just try a bunch of stuff and drink what I like. This had a nice creamy mouthfeel, and a roasty chocolate taste. Maybe my 3rd or 4th pick of the night. Not bad. Have to revisit this.

Tajín is a Mexican spice blend consisting mostly of chili powder, lime, and salt. If you can’t find it, combine equal parts crushed red pepper flake and lime zest and season to taste with salt. Use it to rim glasses for a spicy take on margaritas, micheladas…
