This breed is found in the coldest areas of Southeastern Russia and in few areas of China and Korea. It is very sad to say but this is an endangered species. We have just 350-400 tigers in the wild areas and approximately 490 tigers in the zoos.

Siberian Tiger Mother and Cub    Wild tiger numbers are at an all-time low. The largest of all the Asian big cats may be on top of the food chain and one of the most culturally important and best-loved animals, but they are also vulnerable to extinction. There may be as few as 3,200 tigers left in the wild, and all are threatened by poaching and habitat loss.

The Siberian Tiger, also known as the Amur Tiger, is a very less-populated subspecies of tiger, and is primarily found in the regions of Russia.

Siberian Tigers -is the largest big cat in the world, weighing up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds). Russia’s tiger population had dropped to around 40 individuals by the 1930′s. Since then, the animal has been protected, and its numbers have rebounded to around 500. However, it is still threatened by illegal hunting and habitat loss in the form of logging and development.
