The company has installed a state-of-the-art rooftop solar thermal system, consisting of 150 Kingspan Thermomax HP400 evacuated tubes covering an area of 15 sqm, plus a 1,000-litre solar indirect twin coil cylinder.
This North Carolina home gets most of its space heating from the passive solar design, but the solar thermal system (top of roof) supplies both domestic hot water and a secondary radiant floor heating system. | Photo courtesy of Jim Schmid Photography.
Hydronic Solar Thermal System for Winter Space Heating
This is a collection of photos showing my Hydronic Solar Thermal System that I use for winter space heating. The heart of the system is an array of flat panel solar thermal collectors that heat up water when the sun is shining on them. The heated water is circulated through pex radiant in-floor heating loops underneath my kitchen floor. The result is 3000 to 4500 watts of free heat delivered to the inside of my home during sunny periods. At this present time, the system is up and running…
Heat Your Home w/ Solar Hot Water - This is close to our plan. The only difference is we plan on being able to flush the system with cold water as our floors will be cement and we can cool our floors also. :)
