Spaghettieis is a German ice cream specialty made to look like a plate of spaghetti. It was created by Dario Fontanella in the late 1960s in Mannheim, Germany. In the dish, vanilla ice cream is extruded through a modified Spätzle press or potato ricer, giving it the appearance of spaghetti. It is then placed over whipped cream and topped with strawberry sauce (to simulate tomato sauce) and either coconut flakes, grated almonds, or white chocolate shavings to represent the parmesan cheese.
Spaghetti Ice Cream... The best!! Yum!! I want some so bad!! I would make it but after you have had it sooo many times in Germany it just wouldn't be the same!! :-( There are some things you just can't "remake" and have it taste the same!! <3 I so miss Europe!!
By request, here's a spaghetti ice cream recipe: 1. Take vanilla ice cream or gelato and run it through a press to look like noodles. 2. Top it with strawberry sauce and grated white chocolate. Yum!
