For the first time in nearly 97 years, the price of a U.S. postage stamp went down two cents. On April 10, 2016, a first-class postage stamp went from 49 cents to 47 cents. The last time this happened was in July 1919, when first-class stamp prices dropped from 3 cents to 2 cents.
