Star Trek Into Darkness---While I don't approve of all the Abrahms changes to "Prime TOS" timeline, I do like Quinto's portrayal of Mr. Spock.

This is a pretty amazing piece. It would heave a place of honor at my house.

Star Trek TOS Transporter- I made this using grey bulletin board paper, black bulletin board paper, gold florist foil, black duct tape, blank address labels, 6 large cardboard pizza rounds, silver spray paint, and 6 LED stick-up lights. This was a fantastic photo op area.

And the cell phone. Will someone please HURRY and invent the transporter for goodness' sakes! I have places to go!

There's No Cloning in Quantum Mechanics, So the Star Trek Transporter Really Is a Suicide Box

Remember last week’s video about the trouble with Star Trek’s transporter (a.k.a. a “suicide box”) by CGP Grey, delving into whether the teleported version of yourself would really be, well, you? Henry Reich of Minute Physics has posted a video response with his own resolution to the logical paradox.

Chinese scientists have moved us one step closer to Star Trek style teleportation, after successfully teleporting a photon into the Earth’s orbit. The researchers teleported a photon from Earth to a satellite in orbit over 500 kilometers above. Yahoo News reports: The satellite, called Micius, is a highly sensitive photo receiver capable of detecting the quantum states of single photons fired from the ground. Micius was launched to allow scientists to test various technological building…

'Beam me up' https://tmbw.news/beam-me-up Chinese scientists say they have "teleported" a photon particle from the ground to a satellite orbiting 1,400km (870 miles) away. For many, however, teleportation evokes something much more exotic. Is a world previously confined to science fiction now becoming reality?Well, sort of. But we are not likely to be beaming ourselves to the office or a beach in the Bahamas anytime soon. Sorry. How does it work?Simply put, teleportation is transmitting the…

You can define the Star Trek franchise with just a few pieces of science-fiction technology. The photon torpedo is one, the phaser is another, as is the replicator. But perhaps the most iconic of Federation tech is the transporter: a transportation device (who would have guessed?) that teleports people and things from one place to another. The way that the movies and TV shows say transporters work, though, is more mind-blowing to me than teleportation itself. In my latest Because Science…
