Danny is only five years old, but he is a 'shiner', aglow with psychic voltage. When his father becomes caretaker of an old hotel, his visions grow out of control. Cut off by blizzards, the hotel seems to develop an evil force, and who are the mysterious guests in the supposedly empty hotel?
"I'd just moved into my first home, a minuscule studio apartment, when I read Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot. I lay curled in a tight ball in my bed, terrified there'd be a rap at the window (on the seventh floor), and I would combust. I'm afraid I can get completely wrapped up in stories and lose track of reality." — Louise Penny, author of The Long Way Home
I consider this to be King's best literary work. I also consider it to be one of the best pieces of literature in the 20th C. It has nearly all literary motifs, and heavy in symbolism. A good read, and a good study in lit!
