This board helps my students remember some of the word parts we have highlighted throughout the year. Greek and Latin word parts are the toughest (we put those in the root section), but once they master them, they can continuously add examples (leaves) throughout the year seeing their vocabulary and the tree get thicker and thicker!

On the top row we have our prefixes. On a notecard I write the prefix/suffix/root that we are studying, what it is, and the meaning. On each leaf (simply a di-cut) I write the words that we found, use, and are studying. From Dandelions and dragonflies

Parts of a Word Tree…..This could be the start of a great center activity….look at the word tree and make 10 words with a suffix and/or prefix…then….take those words and use them in a sentence.
