Old Kingdom of Egypt

The Old Kingdom of Egypt (c. 2613-2181 BCE) is also known as the 'Age of the Pyramids' or 'Age of the Pyramid Builders' as it includes the great 4th Dynasty when King Sneferu perfected the art of pyramid building and the pyramids of Giza were constructed under the kings Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. The historical records of this period, the 4th-6th Dynasties of Egypt, are scarce and historians regard the history of the era as literally 'written in stone'. (By Joshua J. Mark) --AHE

The Pyramid of the Magician, The Magician’s House, and The Pyramid of the Dwarf are all names for the 115 feet tall grand pyramid of the Maya at Uxmal. Archaeological evidence suggests that the city was founded some time in the 6th century AD. Uxmal means either “built three times” or “what is to come, the future” and is considered today to be one of the most important Maya archaeological sites. Legend is the Pyramid was built overnight by a dwarf that was hatched from an egg.
