Symbolism of The Tudor Rose: 22nd August 1485 – The Battle of Bosworth Field was won by the Lancastrians. Their leader Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond, became the first English monarch of the Tudor dynasty by his victory and subsequent marriage to a Yorkist princess. His opponent Richard III, the last king of the House of York, was killed in the battle.

Queen Elizabeth I, the second daughter of King Henry VIII, was born in 1533 and died in 1603. Henry VIII was disappointed when Anne Boleyn birthed a daughter instead of a son to be heir to his throne. However, Queen Elizabeth I would later be considered the greatest English ruler in history. Author Alison Weir gave it a good review. She’s one of my favorite historical writers. Her best area is Tudor history. This is 14th Century (Medieval) England. An interesting period.
