The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public research university in Connecticut. Founded in 1881 as a land-grant university, UConn serves more than 30,000 students on its six campuses, including more than 8,000 graduate students in multiple programs. The main university campus is located in Storrs, a division of the Town of Mansfield, approximately 28 miles (45 km) east of Hartford, the state’s capital.
