Walter Raleigh (1554 – 29 October 1618) was an English aristocrat, writer, poet, soldier, courtier, spy, and explorer.He financed and later led expeditions to the Americas and is given credit for being the first to introduce both tobacco and potatoes to Britain, although this is probably incorrect.
