Milkweed is useful for kidney problems, dropsy, scrofula, conditions of the bladder, water retention, asthma, stomach ailments, gallstones, female disorders, arthritis & bronchitis. It causes increase in perspiration, thus reducing fever. Some Native Americans rubbed the (latex) juice on warts, moles & ringworms; others drank an infusion of the rootstock to produce temporary sterility (contraception) or as a laxative. It is also said to be a folk cancer remedy.
► Cold and cough A combination of apple cider vinegar and honey mixed in warm water is a very well-known folk remedy to deal with common cold, cough and sore throat. Simply mix 1 tsp. ACV, 1 tsp. honey and 1 tsp of warm water.
