What is a Watershed? A watershed is an area containing all the land that brings water to a lake. Streams, creeks and ditches all bring water to the lake, but so does excess rainwater flowing over the land (known as “runoff”) and water that percolates through the soil (“groundwater”). No matter where you are, you are in a watershed. A healthy lake starts upstream: Clean lake waters flow from healthy landscapes!
