Pearl Harbor Memorial ~ Oahu, Hawaii 1177 young men who were 19-20 years old lost their lives, when the ship the "Arizona" was sunk, during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. 1102 of them still lie in their watery grave in the sunken ship. Very emotional and sobering to see.
Dorie MIller, a messman in the U.S. Navy was awarded the Navy Cross for his heroic deeds at Pearl Harbor (1st African American to be awarded the Navy Cross). ALL HE DID The Morning of Pearl Harbor Bombing was carry wounded sailors to safer locations, move his injured Captain (the Captain refused to leave his post & remained until his death), load machine guns, take control of one & began firing at Japanese planes (He HAD NO TRAINING IN OPERATING ONE). He fired until he ran out of ammunition.
this is a “little” guide to Honolulu; just a peak at some of my favorite parts of Honolulu. I want to also add that it’s ideal to get out of Waikiki and drive to North Shore for example to watch surfers and eat at the famous shrimp trucks, but as Ben and I were both there for work and I had to get my passports re-issued, we didn’t find the time.
