His excellence. Biblical context The Biblical baby name Jethro is Hebrew in origin and its meaning is his excellence or his abundance. Jethro was a priest of Midian, and father of Zipporah, the wife of Moses. He accompanied the Israelites on their journey through the desert. Jethro is also called Jether, Reuel and Raguel in the Bible. Biblical reference for baby name Jethro: Exodus 3:1; 4:18; 18:1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12
"21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left." Exodus14:21-22
I love reading about the call on Moses' life. Exodus 3:11 is his immediate response to God's order to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses says "Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?" Moses was giving an expression here of inadequacy for such a serious mission. He was just a mere shepherd in Midian what could he do? But God's calling on our life has nothing to do with us.
