Learn to use a bench-top planer correctly and avoid common problems like tearout, snipe and ridges. Reclaim old wood, clean up inexpensive rough-sawn boards, and create custom thicknesses for woodworking projects.
Glue two sacrificial softwood skiis to the sides of your stock to plane short pieces and prevent snipe. Later rip them off as close as possible with table or jig saw and finish the job with your favorite hand plane.
