Matariki is the Maori name for the cluster of stars Plaiedes (also known asThe Seven Sisters). The name Matariki marks the rising of Matariki and the sighting of the next new moon in June of each year. I made this wall hanging from a design created by Mary Metcalf. The pattern is available for sale at Kiwi Quilts.
Folded patchwork Christmas tree Start with triangles with red on one side and Xmas fabric on the other. With red facing you, fold each corner into the middle and secure with a sequin. Sew them together to form the tree.
Long ago - in 1990, my friends and I made this wall hanging for our Arts and Craft Group Exhibition. In the middle of the night I woke with the inspiration for the net for the seagull and next morning made it using my Grandmother's hair net.
