The Greek Genocide 1914-1923

Between the years 1914-1923 the Ottoman Empire instigated a violent campaign of persecution against its ethnic Greek minority. By 1923, upwards of 1 million Ottoman Greeks were victims to one of the first genocides of the 20th century. This campaign is known as the Greek Genocide. Visit out website: www.greek-genocide.net

On this day (Aug 3) in 1973, Elias Venezis (Mellos) passed away. Born in 1904 in Ayvalik (Κυδωνιες) Asia Minor, Venezis wrote the autobiographical novel "To Noumero 31328: The book of slavery" which details his experience on a death march into the Turkish interior during the Greek Genocide.  http://greek-genocide.net/index.php/bibliography/books/190-to-noumero-31328
