Anzac Day art I created. Background is cut up pieces of The Ode and The Last Post, covered with a wash of water colours. Children were then able to add as many or as little poppies as they wanted with red and green paper. They then used sharpies to outline their poppies and stems.

John Simpson with his Donkey, 1915: Simpson was a stretcher bearer with the ANZACs during the Gallipoli Campaign in World War I. After landing at Anzac Cove on 25 April 1915, he obtained a donkey and began carrying wounded British Empire soldiers from the frontline to the beach, for evacuation. He continued this work for 3 and a half weeks, often under fire, until he was killed.
