Compare these two pics! 🧐

Compare these two pics! 🧐 I base most of my design decisions on old interior photos - none of it is guess work. The second pic is of a London lower middle class bedroom from the 1900s. The Enchanting Birdcages of the Davenport

If you were a guest at the Davenport in the early 1900s, you would have been greeted by songbirds in the lobby. This photo from 1925 shows some of the birdcages—filled with lovebirds, songbirds, and numerous tropical birds—that adorned the lobby and welcomed guests upon their arrival. 🦜 #ThrowbackThursday

Vintage Living Room, 1912: Capturing the Charm of the Past

According to this article from Ladies' Home Journal magazine in April 1912, "the first requirement of a living room is to give a feeling of cheerfulness and hospitality." I certainly love the glass doors that open to the fresh air and the the whole room seems to me to look much lighter than typical rooms of the day. This article also featured ideas for the bedroom and dining room, so in the next few entries I'll be continuing with those.
