Langdale Chase Hotel, Windermere, English Lake District. Built in 1890 for a Manchester businessman, it became a hotel in 1930. Taking five years to complete, it was originally intended as 'a small retreat' and was the first house in the area to have electricity.

Once in RI, we took the Claiborne Pell/Newport Bridge into Newport. The bridge was rather steep, allowing for views overlooking the harbor. This made for a grand entrance as we drove into Newport proper. We wanted to tour The Breakers, the Gilded Age Vanderbilt mansion along Easton Bay.
