When I first introduce this exercise in my classes I start my students⬇️

1️⃣Head, neck and chest down 
2️⃣Head, neck and chest up 
3️⃣Head, neck and chest up and extend the legs 
4️⃣Head, neck and chest up, legs extended and add a variation 

A very common mistake I see when I have new students is that they initiate the lift of the upper body with their head. Instead lift with the upper abdominals and reach though the straps. 

Don’t forget the arm circles‼️

The position of the body is already in place and gives us the opportunity to add a beautiful transition. The flow of these two exercises back to back just makes sense to me. 

The Up Stretch is performed in three movements and the Arabesque is performed with two. Up Stretch the weight is centered on both legs. Arabesque the weight shifts to a supporting leg letting the working leg open and close. Both exercises move the carriage back and forth. Both exercises are centered.
