This large, but very light, 4-toothed Victorian comb is beautifully decorated with ivory and rhinestones. A hairdressing staple in the 19th century, this adornment was used for securing a lady’s long hair in a fashionable upsweep. The combs were designed with wood, bone, horn, coral, ivory, metal, and other natural materials. Interestingly, the teeth were originally flat until someone figured out that most women’s heads had a curved shape and they evolved accordingly. A true fashion…
