A Royal Australian Air Force Lockheed Orion scrapped & 2 more scheduled for disposal by end 2014,Defence confirmed.1st aircraft,A9-663,only aircraft in RAAF’s 19-strong fleet not upgraded under AP-3C program,scrapped October 20.All 19 Orions to be progressively drawn-down through to June 2019.Orion’s maritime intelligence,surveillance & reconnaissance (ISR) capability scheduled to be replaced by mix of manned P-8A Poseidons & unmanned Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Tritons under AIR 7000 program.
