Another quilt finished! - this is my Cotton + Steel Giant Vintage Star quilt, made from the super quick and straightforward tutorial by Jeni Baker. I made it for two reasons - one, because I loved all the Giant Vintage Stars I've seen all over the internet, and two, to use a few of the Cotton + Steel fat quarters that I've been slowly accumulating thanks to the Pink Castle Cotton + Steel club. Elizabeth Hartman's Sparkle Punch baby quilt, using charm squares. To make this layout, you need: 66 5" squares - prints for 'outside' of stars 15 5" squares- coordinating prints for star centers 64 5" squares - solids for negative space With pre-cuts, this is 2 charm packs and 1 1/4 yard of solid fabric. With yardage, this is 1 1/4 yards assorted prints (about 1/6 yd for each star) and 1 1/4 yards solid. Follow the tutorial instructions to make 10 full stars, 5 3/4 stars, and 6 1/4 stars.

I was impatient to be waiting around on this Star Plus Quilt Along so whenever I had a chance I made a few blocks.....then I found myself with nothing to do on Friday so I finished up the remainder of them, made the last unit today and voile! a finished quilt. I LOVE the fabrics I chose, I LOVED making the blocks and even the backing was fun. I used up anything over half a yard and made a very scrappy back for it.
