James Douglas - known as the Black Douglas - fought at Bannockburn. He was known for his ruthlessness. An ancestor of mine fought alongside the Douglas. The Becks, were Normans from Brittany who came across with William the Conqueror and settled in Scotland as vassals of the Douglas clan.
