I bought this sashiko kit from my local craft store when living in Japan (2006). It is a more modern take on sashiko in that it doesn't use repeated geometric designs but rather is a pretty vine pattern. I had no experience or advice with doing sashiko so you can see a lot of places where the fabric puckers slightly from too-tight thread. The varigated thread was lovely to use!
