Although sometimes referred to as the Sydney Flannel Flower, it is usually simply known as the Flannel Flower. It is prolific in the sandstone national parks in the greater Sydney area and can be sometimes found in spectacular drifts. The flowers are about 50mm in diameter and appear in Spring.

This is an Australian Native flower and it feels just like flannel to touch. Taken in the National park near me. As with most Australian Natives they spring to life after a Bush Fire has raged over the top of them and this area was burnt out the year before and they have come back with renewed vigor.
