The panduri (Georgian: ფანდური) is a traditional Georgian three-string instrument common in the highland and lowland regions of Eastern Georgia. It is generally used to accompany solo heroic, comic and love songs, as well as dance.

Queen Tamar

Shota Rustaveli (Georgian: შოთა რუსთაველი), mononymously known simply as Rustaveli, was a 12th-century Georgian poet. He is considered to be the preeminent poet of the Georgian Golden Age and one of the greatest contributors to Georgian literature. Rustaveli is the author of The Knight in the Panther's Skin (ვეფხისტყაოსანი, Vepkhist'q'aosani), a Georgian national epic poem.

Tamar the Great reigned as the Queen of Georgia from 1184 to 1213, presiding over the apex of the Georgian Golden Age.A member of the Bagrationi dynasty, her position as the first woman to rule Georgia in her own right was emphasized by the title mepe ("king"), afforded to Tamar in the medieval Georgian sources.
