Gustav Holst (1874 - 1934) is recognized today as the composer of "The Planets," which remains wildly popular, but for little else except perhaps his "St. Paul Suite." Composer and teacher of music. Born at 4 Pittville Terrace (now called Clarence Road), Cheltenham. Baptised Gustavus Theodore. He attended the Royal College of Music where he was a fellow student of Ralph Vaughan Williams. In a wide variety of compositions, the 'Planets Suite' remains his most famous work. Died at Beaufort House, Grange Park, Ealing.
