Your thigh bone, or femur, is the largest bone in the human body and as such is also one of the strongest bones in your body. As we age and conditions like osteoporosis set in, your bones begin to weaken. A fall can break the top portion of your femur, resulting in what is colloquially known as a hip fracture.

An osteoporotic fracture occurs every three seconds worldwide. With more than 50 per cent of the world's hip fractures expected to occur in the Asia Pacific (AP) region over the next two decades, the Asia Pacific Consortium on Osteoporosis (APCO) has launched a Bone Health QI Tool Kit today (May 24, 2022), to promote quality improvement (QI) of osteoporosis care.
