1️⃣Stand straight, feet shoulder width apart. Look straight.  2️⃣Carefully place your left elbow behind your head, hold it with your right hand. To reduce neck muscle tension, do not tilt your head forward. Gently press the right palm on the elbow to direct it as far away from you as possible.  3️⃣Hold the position for 10-15 seconds and repeat with the other hand.

This is the method I use to shorten the shoulder seam. It maintains the length of the armhole seam while reducing the length and altering the slope of the shoulder seam. It narrows the back above the waist, but only reduces the chest area in the front. Refer to photo 10 if you only need to narrow above the armhole at the back.
