One of the women of the red clay village polishes a bowl in the finishing room, where pieces are left to dry and then polished to a glossy sheen. The work is physical, with each item requiring hours of hard labor to produce and perfect. Back in 2013 I went to Oaxaca in Mexico and experienced the day of the dead 💀 festival. It was an experience!! We visited various graveyards where locals clean and clear the graves and decorate with flowers, candles and other objects. Marigolds are especially popular as their strong scent is said to guide the spirits back to the world. At night they welcome their loved ones to visit.
