2nd Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps (60th) Captain Johnstone was educated at Eton where he became a Cadet Officer with the Officer Training Corps (OTC). Rather than take up his place at Christ Church, Oxford, he was gazetted to 60th Rifles in November 1914. He suffered serious injuries in an attack in Picardy on 20 August 1916. He died, aged 21, in a hospital at Abbeville on 29 August. He was posthumously awarded the Military Cross for his gallantry in action. Faces of the First World…
