First incorporated in 1867, Salado is a town in Bell County, Texas, United States. It is positioned between the cities of Austin and Waco. The sole purpose of the incorporation of Salado was to build a bridge across Salado Creek. There is archaeological evidence of a Native American settlement that predated modern Salado roughly 15,500 years ago. The first record of white settlers in the area occurred around 1836.
