Surly cross check

There is no such thing as one bike fits all. Different people like different types of bikes for different reasons. The Surly brand is no exception. For me, I really enjoy their philosophy on what a bike should be - a workhorse.

The Surly Cross-Check has some unique selling points that make it distinct from the other bikes out there: You will notice that the Surly Cross-Check has semi-horizontal dropouts. Overall, if I had to rate the Surly Cross-Check on a scale from 1 to 5 I would give it a 3.5. It certainly isn’t a bad bike, and as a member of the “steel-is-real” movement I appreciate what Surly is doing here, however, I feel like no matter what you are using this bike for you are making some trade-offs.

It has been almost a year side I got my Surly Cross Check. I'm posting some updated photos as I've made some changes to the bike (see the beginning of this set to see what it used to look like). I now have a greater range of gears, I've gone from 12t-25t to 12t-36t. Of course that required a new Shimano XT rear derailleur.
