Red Fir (Californian Fir, Abies magnifica) is native to the mountains of south-west Oregon and California. The name 'red fir' derives from the bark color of old trees. The bark on young trees is smooth and grey becoming orange-red, rough and fissured on old trees. It has blue-green needle-like leaves and erect yellow-green (occasionally purple) cones, ripening to brown.

Abies cilicica, also known as Cilician fir or Taurus fir, is a species of conifer in the family Pinaceae. It is found in Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey. It is a tall, narrow coniferous tree belonging to the group of Mediterranean firs.
