When it comes to quality interiors and design, few people know their stuff like Kate Nixon. The Houses Editor for Australian House and Garden magazine, Nixon was holidaying with her husband in Italy in 2006 when she “stumbled” upon the Busatti artisan fabric workroom in Cordona. “I loved what they are doing straight away,” Nixon says. “It’s been in the same family for eight generations, and everyone involved is extremely passionate about the company.”

As project manager of Hatch, a store that only stocks Western Australian designers, and an initiative by PFF and Carillon City, she is helping bring these young creatives to the attention of inner-city shoppers.
