A parliamentary committee has raised concerns about allegations of fraud and corruption levelled against the hospital's private operator, Health Solutions WA. Health Solutions was forced to repay $1.8 million to the Health Department amid allegations doctors were being paid cash bonuses for admitting patients. The parliamentary committee recommended an independent examination of the matter.
Allegations of fraud, corruption and harassment at a privately run public hospital in Western Australia were aired at a parliamentary inquiry last month and raise questions of how effectively a profit-driven private company can operate a public hospital.
