'Retro at the Bay' - Jervis Bay NSW Australia

This 1960s fibro house had terrible floor plan and needed a major renovation. After much hard work it's now up on Stayz for holiday rental. The only door that is still in the same place is the revamped front door. The house was almost entirely furnished and decorated with retro finds from op shops, garage sales, local tips, curb side finds and purchases from ebay and gumtree. We only added a front deck and a small laundry but that was enough to completely transform the house.

My cousin getting right into the retro experience - yes the magazines are from the 60s and 70s too. The wallpaper was bought online from Spoonflower in the US. I'd readily recommend them - quick and efficient service PLUS all the wallpaper drops come pre-cut.

The 1950s stove and refrigerator both work well. The fridge took a bit of work but I just love it! Instead of flying ducks we have flying kookaburras.

The kitchen before .... Note that there is only one tap in the kitchen. There was no hot water for over 50 years!!!

These beds were a curbside find in the quiet little village of Erowal Bay where the house is located.

The bathroom was large but only had a bath and a tiny vanity. We added double vanity and a separate shower - complete with funky curtain. The walls were painted to match. TIP: Undercoat with grey when painting with orange or it just won't cover properly.

The new front deck. I love the front door which was created painting it red and adding some white diamond shaped trims. I really wanted to have these 'v' shaped verandah posts too.

My husband and I did almost all the work ourselves but got a hand from family at times - including two of my sons for the front deck. My dad was a super help too.

The lounge area used to be very small but, after removing a wall and adding doors onto the new deck it feels quite spacious.

I was looking for something to make shadow boxes out of at the op shop when I found ... shadow boxes! I put some off cuts of the wall paper behind to link to the other wall.
