Passive Design - is design that takes advantage of the climate to maintain a comfortable temperature range in the home.  Passive design eliminates the need for assistant heating or cooling which accounts for 40% of energy use in the average Australian home.

A contemporary living room has wide glass bifold doors opened to connect the room to an outside balcony with trees beyond. High windows with louvres run across the wall above the bifold doors, allowing plenty of light into the room.

Texture - In this design known as the Masdar headquarters in Dubai it is clear that the designers have used the element of texture on the roof as it gives the feel of freedom and having the appearance of softness and creates a soothing feeling or mood.

Thermal Mass - In this design, thermal mass is used.  Thermal mass is the ability of a material to absorb and store heat energy.  To change the temperature of the high density materials such as tiles, bricks and concrete, these materials have high heat storage capacity and are therefore said to have high thermal mass.

Form and Shape - this building combine architectural diagonal and horizontal lines integrating with the water creating a feeling of luxury and relaxation.
