Chrysler marketing director said to the media at the Charger's release in 1971: "We saw the success of the Mustang in America. Nobody has done it in Australia, so we thought, why not?" The release was accompanied by Australia's most successful advertising campaign. In 2 months Charger accounted for 50% of Chrysler sales. In 1972, the RT E49 was the fastest accelerating & most powerful 6 cylinder car made in Australia. RT Chargers are an integral part of motor racing history in Australia & NZ.
