Memphis (2013). Just saw this: slow but beautiful. Every shot is deeply deliberate, to the point that the film is felt more than understood. Which makes sense because it's about soul-searching. And though there is not much music, Memphis has one of the better soundtracks I've heard in a while, because even the incidental noises (train, lawnmower) contribute. And when the music does cut in, it is all the more powerful.
Machotaildrop is an adventure comedy, which subtly delves in to the world of mythology and cultism. Although the subject matter is universal and the themes very close to real life, the story takes place in an overtly surreal world where situations are satirically enhanced to emphasize the fickle nature of our cultures obsession with celebrity, image, icons, money and media orientated behaviour.
