Broadhurst’s choice of colours ranged from the traditional and exotic silver, bronze, gold, black and white through to the bright psychedelic hues of the '60s and '70s such as fuchsia pinks, tangerine, lime greens, oranges and turquoises. Sydney’s Signature Prints are custodians of the Florence Broadhurst design library, and re-released the designs in the early 2000s. They made a conscious decision to promote Broadhurst's designs overseas.

The geometric stylisation of Art Deco (particularly Zigzag Moderne), Art Nouveau, Oriental themes, heraldic themes, Persian art, and European art movements, such as French Cubism, Dutch de Stijl, Russian Constructivism, Italian Futurism, and German Bauhaus can all be seen in her designs.

Many of her designs combined oriental motifs with Europe’s 1930s-style modernism and were all hand printed. Her studio developed a washable, vinyl-coating finish and a drying rack system that enabled the wallpapers to be produced in large quantities.
