This is a postcard showing the snow at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens in 1905, with the old Gothic fernery in the background. This was sent to my grandmother in Western Australia in c1907, by friends from Learmonth, Victoria.
The Ripon Hornblower originates with the wakeman of Ripon, whose job in the Middle Ages was similar of that to a mayor although he had more responsibilities in the keeping of law and order. Every day at 9:00pm the horn is blown at the four corners of the obelisk in Ripon Market. No date for this card.
